But since then, we have crossed the threshold of the sustainable resource management, and began using more resources than one planet Earth can possibly provide. Currently, we live as if we had 1. This means that we all are living with the growing ecological debt to our planet.

We are using resources as if we had two planets, not one. For example, inthe demand for natural resources exceeded what our ecosystems can regenerate on August 2nd [1]. All resources and ecosystem services we had used in the remaining four months of the last year collectively add to the debt.

A key distinction in terms of the resources that are at our disposal is whether they are renewable or non-renewable. So, what exactly are renewable and nonrenewable resources? Renewable resources are resources that are replenished naturally in the course of time. The use of these resources corresponds with the principles of sustainability, because the rate at which we are consuming them does not affect their availability in the long term.

In contrast, non-renewable resources are those that are available to us in limited quantities, or those that are renewed so slowly that the rate at which they are consumed is too fast. This means that their stocks are getting depleted before they can replenish naturally. Solar energy is a perfect example of a renewable resource. If we captured and used all this energy at once, we would not deplete the solar power in any way.

The sun will still keep on sending its energy our way every day, until it will cease to exist and our planet with it. Therefore, this resource is inexhaustible to our consumption rates. Wind energy was amongst the first resources harvested by us to improve our livelihoods. Wind pushed our sailboats, and helped mills to grind grains or pump water. No one has really paid special attention to it — some days wind was blowing, some days not. In principle, wind is just air that moves from high pressure to low pressure areas.

The different pressures are created in response to changing temperature of the earth surface, which is affected by the amount of sunshine the area receives. This means that we can use wind as a source of energy for as long as the sun is shining on our planet, without having to worry about overconsuming this resource. This phenomenon is also referred to as geothermal activity.

Once it reaches the surface, we can witness this proof of geothermal activity in the form of hot springs, geysers, volcanic lava flows, or steam vents.Human resource professionals must show on their resumes the ability to maintain harmony in the workplace. Smartsheet is simply a tool that has project managment and spreadsheet functionality built in that allows enhanced collaboration with people. However, if you are just looking to track the project status of resources, materials, equipment, etc, it can be used. There are also APIs that can be used to have it communicate with other systems.

Kurt - one additional piece to Tim's response - if you're looking to use Resource Management to track non-human resources, you'll need an email address for each resource. That sounds like a lame way of doing things I can't just make dummy email addresses in my organization. It makes for an awkward conversation with IT. Not to mention an eventual security risk when someone makes several email addresses all with the same login, which is probably going to be an easy password. Then there's the drudgery of confirming those emails for each device If Smartsheet can integrate with other systems, can it import items in an equipment database as a resource?

I can use TeamGantt for scheduling and create "equipment" resources as I please. No email address attached. Seems like Smartsheet needs to think about this a bit harder.

Currently, the workaround Sonia mentioned above is the only way to assign non-human resources to a task, but our Development team is currently prioritizing updates to our Resource Management functionality and I'll pass your input along. Other than the workarounds provided in this discussion, there isn't a way to allocate non-human resources in your projects. I've got your vote down for this on our enhancement request list for further consideration by our Product team.

I have used this for delivery trucks, computers, conference rooms, special construction equipment, and future staffing needs. I have found no significant drawbacks to this and can not imagine a system that would provide any further benefits.

Other asset management tasks can already be handled in sheets. For example:. Again, this can only be done if you're using a Google email account, but it might be easier for you as you create non-human resources. There are a lot of users that want to be able to track non-human resources without dummy emails.

The work around is clunky and every time I need to add a resource I have to contact IT so they can log in to add the user to our enterprise account.
